Rawene

The boho village of Rawene is famous for being draped in history. With its heritage buildings it is New Zealand's third oldest European settlement. Clendon House was built in the 1860’s the Masonic Hotel from 1875, the Methodist Church 1876; and the courthouse, which was built in 1875.

This funky little settlement is now a buzzing with upbeat cafes, upmarket pizza and fabulous arts and craft shops. There is also a car ferry service which runs between Rawene and Kohukohu making it possible to explore the more isolated northern side of the Hokianga Harbour.
